SAVE TIME & MONEY - RIDE A SCOOT

HOW DOES $9 PER WEEK FUEL BILL SOUND?

Adrian Bradshaw

With the constant rise in fuel prices and increasing city conjestion, limited or expensive car parking, more and more consumers are turning to scooters as the low cost, fun way to get around town.  A typical scooter will run around town and use about $9 of fuel to fill the tank and do about 200 kilomtres.  Compare that to your average car and you are looking at a massive saving to your household spending each week.  For most families that run a one car, one scooter household, the saving is typically $5000 per year over a two car option.  Now that's a real saving. In addition registering an average scooter will cost less than half the average car and comprehensive insurance starts at $180 per year. That's not to mention that you can buy a brand new 125cc scooter for only $2999 with a 2 year warranty. Never have to pay for parking again and be guranteed a convenient parking spot everytime. Don't forget that you can legally ride in the bus and transit lanes which shaves extra time off your commute. What tops it all off is that scooter riders love riding their scooter, it sure beats the car.

So if I haven't convinced you already here is what a few of a customers have to say about why they ride a scooter:

"I bought my scooter originally to save on the time and expense of catching a bus to the city.  My scoot costs me $7 per week in fuel, while the bus was costing me $36.  I can ride the Bus and Transit Lanes to work, so its a quick trip, and I have to admit, I really love riding my little scoot each day.-  Angie, Aprilia Mojito 125

"My Vespa is a so much fun.  I bought it because Ive always loved the history and cool Vespa looks, and its perfect for parking at the beach in summer and my local coffee shop before work.  I bought it for fun, but now I use it every day, and I can't believe I waited so long to get one.  For me it had to be a Vespa, and it had to be red" - Vespa GTS 250ie

"I bought my scoot for a simple reason.  I was driving my $35,000 car to the bus stop each day and catching the bus into the city because its just too expensive to park the car in the city.  It was crazy to leave that car depreciating at the bus stop 5 days a week, so I sold the car, put the money in the bank, and bought a scoot that was only a tenth of the cost.  Now Im finding I use the scooter for more than just the we trip to the bus. Its conveniant, cheap and whole heap of fun" - Bolwell VS 125

"I started on two wheels almost 50 years ago and I wasnt about to give up because of my age, so I bought myself a maxi scoot.  I can still do the highway miles, and the weight is much lower on a scooter, so its easier to handle than a motorcycle.  I only ride from time to time now days, but when I do I love it."
